Did you know that kids’ imaginations these days are at risk? Studies show that when kids engage in imaginative play, the benefits carry over in so many areas of their development. My husband and I were just talking about how we played so different when we were young. Like playing outside, a LOT! We played pretend, built things out of sticks and used our imaginations a great deal. Sadly, today much of that is missing in our kids play. With the electronic age our kids can get so tied up with electronics devices, video games, and tv they miss out the real art of pretend and active play. As parents we have to set some guidelines so our kids don’t miss out on such an important part of their development. It is harder in today’s age to make that happen but we must try!
Concerned that active, make-believe play among children is on the verge of extinction, Pump It Up, a national leader in the children’s entertainment category, is fighting to reverse that trend through a proactive “Save Childhood” campaign that urges parents to commit to increased imaginative play activities and provides tools to help them accomplish this goal
Pump It Up, has introduced a new campaign, Save Childhood Support Imagination. They want to raise awareness about the importance of imaginative play for kids and urge parents to sign their Imagination Declaration to pledge their support to spend an hour each day engaging in imaginative play with their kids.
