I LOVE school supplies, I mean LOVE them! So I was more then excited to participate in #BagItForward with Elmers and couldn’t wait to shop for supplies for someone else. There are so many children and teachers that are in need of good school supplies that can’t afford them. Many teachers use their own money to help other students get supplies or to supply their classroom. A chance to give back is a wonderful thing and I love any cause that can help education. Although we homeschool, I always love to hear about a great teacher that is making a difference. I still have very fond memories of certain teachers that really made a difference in my life.
We were excited to give our supplies to Mrs. H who teaches at a school with many children who have very little. She teaches the 1st grade and is very loved by her students. She really works hard to make learning fun by providing fun learning centers and special read aloud times where she actually has someone from the community come each month to read her kids a special story. She has a deep love for her community and is in involved in so many things to make the school and area better for the kids. Our family can’t wait to give her the special box we put together for her. We would have had her picture but she just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy! On top of being a great teacher she is a mama of 6 and if any one deserves a fun surprise it’s a mom of six, LOL!
Elmer’s now has the 1st Day app which is all about celebrating the first day of school. It can be used to capture images of the first day of school each year! Pictures can then be stored in albums and shared with family and friends. Also, for every photo uploaded, Elmer’s will donate one product to The Kids In Need Foundation – up to 200,000 products! The Kids In Need Foundation currently supports the Elmer’s Teacher Tool Kit Program which provides funding and supplies to educators. You can download this right on the Walmart/Elmers board that has the school supply list for your community. Just stop in your Walmart and find your school supply list and download the app right on to your phone from the board.
I encourage you if you can to bless someone else this school year with a #bagitforward project. This is a great project to do with your children. It encourages them to help another child in need, or a teacher that can bless her classroom or another child. It is a wonderful way to give back! It makes a wonderful service project.
You can find my shopping story in my google+ album.
