Eagle’s Wings: Considering God’s Creation

Photobucket

PhotobucketWe received Considering God’s Creation to review for the TOS Crew. This is a science program geared for 2nd-7th graders. It is a biblically sound curriculum that teaches science based on creation. It uses the notebooking approach and that is a plus for me, I love notebooking and I especially love that it includes cut outs, crossword puzzles, games and lots of cut and paste for the young ones. All the pages are in black and white (this may be disappointing for some who like color but I did like the fact that my kids could add color) This is a perfect curriculum for the workbox user because you can prepare each lesson and add it to a box, the lessons are easy to prepare but they do take some preparation. I felt the CD is more for the younger ages and thought the curriculum would be too young for my soon to be 7th grader but if it would really depend on child’s maturity level. However this is a wonderful curriculum for K-6 and would make an excellent choice for the Christian Homeschooler, it would also be great for the Charlotte Mason homeschooler.

This science covers a little of everything, here are the topics:

  • Universe
  • Stars
  • Solar System
  • Earth
  • Light
  • Sound
  • Wind
  • Weather
  • Clouds
  • Rocks
  • Plants
  • Insects
  • Mammals
  • Reptiles
  • Birds
  • Fish
  • Amphibians
  • Food Chains
  • Reproduction and Genetics
  • Human
  • Animal Anatomy
  • Physiology

The 36 lessons include such fun sections as “Digging Deeper,” “Evolution Stumpers,” and “Scientist Detective

You can visit the website for some samples from the 272-page student book, or to listen to some excerpts from the CD included in the teacher book.

The Considering God’s Creation set that we received includes a Teacher’s Manual with the song CD, as well as a student workbook, which retails for $29.95. It includes teacher’s notes and answer key. The student workbook includes worksheets, 12 review crosswords, glossary, and song lyrics. Both books are softcover. The student workbook can be photocopied for family use only, or additional workbooks can be purchased for $13.95.

As a member of the Homeschool Crew, I was given this product to review. I was not paid for this post. All opinions expressed in this post are mine.
