Free Resource for Online Safety from Lifelock

modern family using computer We live in a world of technology.  When I think about the last 10 years and how far we have come with technology it is crazy!  I was just telling my oldest son (16) that when I was looking to work at home when he was young it was so much more difficult.  There was NO internet!  It is just amazing today with the laptops, tablets, cell phones, game systems and fancy PC’s how much we can do.  It can benefit our lives quite a bit, everything from school work to business and everything in between.  However, it can also cause heartache and danger.

You have a family that can be exposed to so many horrible things on the internet.  Your children have access to the most evil things with just one click of a mouse.   Talking to your children about online safety is so important but sometimes you just don’t know where to start!

Lifelock wanted to create a way to make this talk easier for parent so they now  offer a free resource to open up the conversation between parents and kids about online safety.  They know that kids are spending countless hours using devices and on the Internet- 92 percent of teens report going online daily, with 24 percent of those teens going online “almost constantly.  Amazing isn’t it?

I couldn’t believe that the majority of children was getting  their first smart phone between the ages of 8 and 12. While 79 percent of families have technology agreements with their children, only 6 percent of those are written.

LifeLock knows that being a parent is a balancing act, especially when it comes to managing kids and their devices. Together with the National PTA, LifeLock is giving parents a way to make a hard and complex discussion easier.  The Smart Talk provides an interactive experience that guides kids and parents through a series of questions and conversations about topics such as safety and privacy, screen time, social media, apps and downloads, texting and calling, reputation and respect, and online videos and cameras. After agreeing on healthy limits together, a personalized, official family agreement can be stored on the computer or printed and posted at home.

Smart Talk was so easy to use!  It walked you through step by step and did not take long at all!  I love all the options they give you, it is very thorough.
