It is not always easy to get our kids to eat healthy and to eat a balanced meal. Sometimes it is just because they are picky, I have a friend who has a child that ONLY ate hot dogs and mac n cheese for what seemed forever. Thank goodness, he out grew that! There are times our kids think anything green or healthy has to taste bad.
Some things I have implemented to make sure my kids get a balanced meal:
*I try to require at least one vegetable for dinner, they have to at least try it. I find that most of the time they like them way more then they thought they would.
*Sometimes I will add a dip or a dressing, even if you only want to add a little to give a little flavor it can help.
*I try to provide healthy choices at snack time instead of junk food. I do sometimes have something sweet but I try to stay with granola, fruits, yogurt, cheese sticks, popcorn and other healthier choices. Things that may have a sweet or crunch taste but are healthier then candy and chips.
*I buy whole wheat breads and try to encourage portion control. I found when my kids were eating in front of the tv they were eating MORE, if snacks and meals happen at the table they eat a more balanced meal and have better portion control.
