Lanschool Technologies

Lanschool Technologies has designed a software that helps classroom teachers monitor their student’s computer activity and eliminate computer-based distractions. They also have a Lanschool Home version that can be used in homeschools.
This software allows the teacher to:
•monitor the students’ computer activities
•limit access to the internet or other applications
•remotely access the students’ computer to help with problems
•show your screen to your students
•view your students’ screen
•monitor several students at once
•send and receive messages between computers
•blank your students’ screens to get their attention
•view students’ internet history
In order to use this software you have to install it on both yours and your children’s computers. Many homeschoolers use computer curriculum and this would be such a GREAT asset if you do. You can load this on to everyone’s computer and check in on them to see how they are doing and if they have a question, they can IM you and you can pull up their screen and look right at their work to help answer their question. I loved the feature where you can make true/false or mulitple choice tests for your kids. This is also a great way to monitor what your kids are doing on the computer, especially for families with kids working in different rooms or larger homes. We rarely do work on the computer so we would not use this much but I can see the benefits for many. School teachers or large coops that have many students could really benefit, the teacher would have access to all of her/his student’s work in an instant. You can also block any websites, games or anything else you don’t approve of or don’t want them to access during school time.
The Lanschool Home version sells for $99.00 and allows the parent to monitor 3 student computers. There is a 30 day free trial version, which you can download to test in your own home. You can also download a brochure to learn more about the product.
As a member of the Homeschool Crew, I was given this product to review. I was not paid for this post. All opinions expressed in this post are mine.
