Ohio Renaissance Festival Review

Forget your cares and step back in time to this 30-acre re-created 16th Century English village and enjoy over 400 years of fun in a single day! The festival offers something for everyone featuring nearly 100 shows daily on 11 stages, over 135 unique arts and crafts shops, hearty food and drink, games of skill and human-powered rides to amuse all ages.

Our family went to the Ohio Renaissance Festival recently on a beautiful Saturday!  It was the most perfect day and the weather was wonderful!

There are over 150 costumed characters welcome you to the village!  We love that they call us “My Lord and My Lady”  With all the costumes and the talk it makes you feel just like you have stepped into a different time period!  As you walk around there are many shows going on at different times.  Everything from dueling swordsmen, rowdy pirates, nobles, peasants, and daring jugglers, and/or even a full armored tournament joust!  You may even get lucky and see the Queen herself, we did!

r-festival2 The place is beautiful.  There are hundreds of shops that have beautiful things and the decorations are beautiful!  If you love crafts you will love it because there is glassblowing, stone carving, blacksmithing, leather tooling, boot making, and more demonstrated. The air is filled with the scents and smells of the foods of the Renaissance period. And they have the food, everything from a juicy, giant roasted turkey legs, fresh baked bread bowls overflowing with soups and stews, fish ‘n chips, steak-on-a-stake, succulent roasted corn on the cob and a wide variety of the finest ales and wines.  My husband loves the turkey legs and every year we have gone he gets one!

r-festival7 It is really fun seeing all the games.  They run them just like they would have during the Renaissance.  The rides are pushed by a human, you won’t see any electric rides here!   You can also try your hand at archery and see if you’re a modern-day Robin Hood, or climb the castle tower and rescue the lovely damsel in distress.

The festival runs from Sept 3rd-Oct 23rd and The festival entrance is located at: 10542 East State Route 73 Waynesville, OH 45068.  Tickets are 21.50 to get in and you can get a 3 dollar discount if you buy them at a Kroger location!  Traffic can be difficult, we waited 2 hrs on the highway, although we heard there was another festival going on the same weekend so it made it much worse than usual.

We had a wonderful time and this is the perfect October event to attend as a family, it is very educational too because your kids will learn first hand about a time in history!

I received tickets for my family to go to The Ohio Renaissance Festival free for review.  All opinions are 100 percent mine!
