Quality Time With Grandchildren During The Holidays!

The turkey is done, dinner is over and now what? Too often, time between grandparents and grandchildren crawls to a standstill. Now what do you do? You can fight the frenzy at the mall, spend way too much at the movies or enjoy any of these all-free, at-home activities. And best of all, you make some special memories too.

Fun Time #1:  Paper Football. Get the kids (ages 5 to 500) around the dining room table, fold up that sheet of notebook paper and show the kids how table football was played before there was Madden NFL 2011 and other video games. Can’t remember how to make that football, just go to http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-fold-a-paper-football or http://www.wikihow.com/Play-Paper-Football

Fun Time #2: Story Time. Wait until bedtime, slip on the PJs and warm up the hot chocolate, then invite everyone—especially the kids—around the fireplace. Re-kindle the magic of yesteryear with Story Time that tells a dramatic, kid-relevant story—a story that shares the real story of Christmas through the eyes of Little Star. This new children’s book from Author Anthony DeStefano tells the story of one little, insignificant Star and how he becomes more than significant by ushering in a newborn King named Jesus.

Fun Time #3:  A Hilarious History Lesson.  Give your kids the laugh of a lifetime and share a little of your family history too. Blow the dust off those photo albums—and boxes of old photos—and let them see Grandpa and Grandma when they were teens, young married and parents to their parents. This is a great family time (Grandpa, you had hair back then!”) for the grandkids, you. And your kids. And while you’re at it, be sure and take photos and video of the special time you’re sharing. Right then and there.

Happy Holidays!
