Sara Lee Pound Cake with a Strawberry Limeade Glaze

 

I LOVE Sara Lee Pound Cake, I mean LOVE!  I always have!  When I was a little girl this was one of my favorite desserts to ask my mom for and to be honest I love it plain right out of the box!  It is simple but delicious.  It is soft and buttery and has a wonderful flavor.

However, I thought it would be fun to do a recipe to spice it up a little, give it a little zing and to share with you! This is a Sara Lee pound cake with a homemade strawberry limeade glaze!!

What you will need:

1 Sara Lee Pound Cake

For the Glaze:

GLAZE
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons 7-Up
1 tablespoon fresh grated lime zest
Fresh Strawberries
In a medium bowl combine strawberries and glaze ingredients.  Beat with an electric mixer until well combined.  Glaze should be the consistency of corn syrup, add more powdered sugar (a tablespoon at a time) if necessary to thicken glaze.
The great thing about this recipe is that it is very good and very simple.  This would make a great dessert to have during one of your summer barbeques or summer holiday events.  You can always make more than one if you have a big crowd.  It takes no time but taste like you have been baking cake all day!!
