The Barefoot Executive

I was recently sent The Barefoot Executive by Carrie Wilkerson to read and review.  I am very interested in having a home business (preferably in my blogging) and this book does NOT disappoint.  Many times when you pick up a book about business it can be BORING but this one is NOT!  I LOVED this book; I could not put it down!  I will be keeping it on my bookshelf for future reference too.

This book is inspiring, motivating, and entertaining.  I love Carrie’s storytelling gift and she gives many examples of other business owners as well as her own.  She also gives many practical tips which I love because it gives you a call to action of things to do for your current or future business.  There are worksheets inside that help you brainstorm ideas, your gifts, and weaknesses.  I loved that because writing those things down give you an idea of what you will be good at when thinking of having your own business.

She has tips on finding the right business for you, how to get in touch with like minded people and how to find a mentor.  She covers all the basics and then some on starting your own business.

There is no such thing as a stable job anymore.  The economy is struggling and the days of jobs that last 30 yrs with a full benefit/pension plan is mostly a thing of the past.  This book reminds the reader that they have incredible God given talents in them and they can find them and execute them to make their dreams come true.   My dream is to bring my husband home from the outside workplace so we can work together at home and with our children.  This book has given me so many great ideas to make that happen!

If you’d like to check out The Barefoot Executive, Carrie is offering a free chapter of her book or you can purchase a copy here.

Disclosure: I was given a free copy of The Barefoot Executive for review. All opinions are 100 percent mine.
